Welcome to the gift registry for our little sparky! (no that is not his actual name hehe).
Thank you so much for sharing in our joy. We are super excited, and whilst some family members (sumo) are having trouble coming to terms with the impending arrival, the rest of us can’t wait!
We are so thankful for your presence in our lives and that’s already the best present ever. If you feel called to make a contribution to the registry, we are grateful for that too however it’s absolutely not necessary.
As some of you may know, we are doing things a little differently to what most people may be used to. We are guided by our values and that means:
Free Birthing:
We are choosing to birth our baby by ourselves, without any intervention or assistance, this is often referred to as free birthing. There are a few things we need to prepare for the birth and these items have been included in the registry.
Only Getting What’s Essential:
We want to minimize waste as much as possible. This means we’ll only be getting what’s absolutely essential and where practical, we will be choosing to purchase 2nd hand. There’s SO MANY baby things out there and we are choosing to not use most of it including things like toys and baby monitors. A handy guide is apart from ethical and/or 2nd hand clothing for baby to grow into, if it’s not on the registry, we won’t need or use it.
Ethical, Organic & Vegan Products:
It’s in our hearts to walk gently and kindly in this beautiful life. I have been vegan for 12 years now and am staying vegan throughout this pregnancy and papa is also vegan. This means that little spark will be vegan from conception! In keeping with treading gently on the earth, and choosing what’s best for baby’s health and well being, all products on this registry will be organic, vegan and ethically sourced.
Elimination Communication:
We are choosing to use the method of elimination communication for potty training which involves teaching toileting from birth. It’s based on the premise that babies don’t want to soil themselves, so if you offer them the opportunity to toilet before and after feeding, during transitions and before and after waking, then they will quickly learn to give you visual and verbal cues for when they need to go. This usually results in no need for nappies and infants toileting themselves from as early as 9 months. This also means that we won’t be using any disposable nappies at all, and will be using re-usable nappies just in case we miss a cue.
